3rd Grade Advanced Math Labs

Who

Third grade girls who enjoy math and wish to understand math more deeply and experience greater challenge.

Families who prioritize the program by supporting their student to attend most sessions and complete their practice, reading session reports, and showing interest in the material.

Reinforce key content & strategies common in 2nd grade (place value/comparing, addition and subtraction strategies, even/odd) and 3rd grade (multiplication, division, fractions, algebraic thinking, perimeter/area).

Satisfy students via extensions & challenge topics (including volume/surface area, logic puzzles, advanced multiplication), elementary math competition problems, and exploration-based problem sets.

Develop problem solving strategies which allow students to approach any new problem with confidence.

Develop teamwork and communication skills by discussing and presenting their work.

Goals

Rhythm

Each session, students explore problem sets and activities individually and in teams. They present their ideas, discuss pros and cons of various strategies, and learn from each other. New concepts and strategies are taught.

Students complete weekly assignments of approximately 1 hour to reinforce and expand understanding, and they upload their work for review.
