8th Grade SSAT Math Labs


Who

Eighth grade girls who wish to improve their math knowledge and problem-solving ability by practicing SSAT quantitative tests.

Families who prioritize the program by supporting their student to attend most sessions and complete their practice, reading session reports, and showing interest in the material.


Reinforce key content & strategies relevant to middle and high school math.

Satisfy students’ thirst for challenge: Students will attack new problems and explore familiar concepts in new ways, deepening their perseverance and understanding.

Develop problem solving and test-taking strategies which allow students to approach any new problem or exam with confidence.

Develop teamwork and communication skills by discussing and presenting their strategies.

Improve SSAT scores: kq Absolute Value students perform strongly.

Goals


Rhythm

Each session, students complete a math competition individually or in teams. They present their ideas, discuss pros and cons of various strategies, and learn from each other. New concepts and strategies are taught.

Students complete short weekly assignments to reinforce and expand understanding, and they upload their work for review.


Logistics

Weekly 70-minute problem solving labs in 4-6 student cohort held in Pacific Heights, San Francisco.

Fall Semester runs September 14 through November 21.

Cost: $160/week (lower-fee spots may be available for families with limited income; please inquire)
